A NATURAL ALTERNATIVE TO CHEMICALLY TREATED WOOD
Much of today's outdoor furniture consists of chemically treated materials. These materials hold up outdoors because they are soaked in a toxic stew of chemical preservatives that are strong enough to require warning labels for those who handle it. The three primary ingredients in pressure-treated woods are: copper, chromium and arsenic (CCA).
A controversy exists on the extent of arsenic exposure due to physical contact with CCA wood surfaces. Such surfaces include playground equipment, decks and picnic tables built using CCA treated wood. Studies have shown that virtually no inorganic arsenic is absorbed through the skin, but is readily taken up by ingestion. Thus, the potential exposure is hand to mouth, and therefore, children are considered the most vulnerable to this potential risk. (Contact your local Environmental Department for more information.)

Is furniture shipped in one piece?
Cedar wood furniture items are shipped three ways...
As Assembled Furniture Product, Pre-Assembled Furniture & Ready-to-Assemble Furniture Kit. Both versions (described below) are packed flatly to conform with standard UPS / Fedex shipping requirements for faster scheduled delivery and to keep costs down without sacrificing quality.
Pre-Assembled Furniture: 75 - 95% of item's main components are completely assembled and will only need to be attached to the frame with the simple use of a screwdriver. All hardware is included along with easy, fully illustrated assembly instructions for quick setup. Minimal assembly needed. (This method is commonly referred to as a Knocked Down Unit - Handcrafted furniture product skillfully built then partially disassembled for shipping.)
Ready-to-Assemble Furniture Kit: Do-it-yourself plan! This kit option contains all the pre-cut, pre-drilled and pre-fitted cedar wood, hardware and fully illustrated assembly instructions needed to build the item yourself.
What does "clear grain" mean in an item's description?
Clear grain refers to the lumber selection. It means the wood used in that product was specially selected without "large" compromising knots that may loosen over time and weaken the board. However, clear grain wood may still contain smaller knots which are considerably less vulnerable.
What are the characteristics of log furniture?
It's normal for all cedar log furniture to endure the natural process of checking
as the wood "seasons".  Checking
occurs as a wooden log releases moisture across or through the annual
growth rings. It does not affect the structural performance or integrity
of the wood. All logs which contain the heart of the tree will develop
lengthwise cracks or checks. The check never goes deeper than the heart.

Since moisture is a factor in the checking process, the depth and span of the checks will vary upon placement outdoors. Direct sunshine contributes to the drying of logs, therefore widening their cracks. Moisture and indirect light will shrink cracks.
Why do I get a cookie?
What they are...
A cookie is a piece of data that a Web server gives to a Web browser. When the same browser asks the server for another page, it includes the cookie with the request. This lets the server know when a sequence of clicks all come from the same browser.
And that is all cookies do. Using cookies doesn't give the server any personal information about the person visiting the Web site.
Why we use them...
Our Yahoo shopping cart software uses cookies to keep track of each shopper's shopping basket. When someone arrives, Yahoo software gives them a unique cookie. When they click on an Order button, Yahoo uses the cookie to decide what shopping basket to put the product into.
If you don't use cookies (or some equivalent approach like putting a tracking code in the URL for each visitor), there is simply no way to make a shopping basket work; unless the server has some way to tell that two clicks on the Order button are coming from the same browser, it has no way to know that both orders should go into the same shopping basket.
Note that no information from the cookie is stored. The cookies are simply temporary ids and merely a shopping key.
